It is with deep sadness that we announce Tin Shed Theatre Co. were unsuccessful in their application for core investment funds from the Arts Council of Wales and will therefore not be joining the portfolio from 2024.

In application to join the portfolio, we condensed and contextualised 14 years of our work funded by ACW and other partners. This offered us some key reflection time on what we had achieved to date. We gathered testimonials from a wide range of people who have connected to the company & these made us realise the positive impact we have had on so many lives, it was wonderful. If just as an exercise to remind ourselves of what we do and why we do it. That was worth it.

As a female led company we have progressive aspirations to develop new & exciting ways to run the organisation, to diversify & challenge cultural leadership structures and to champion the community, to grow outdoor, site specific art & performance in Wales and internationally. This is exciting and will hopefully continue.

​

We hope in the coming weeks to learn more from the Arts Council, to meet with our officer and find some clarity and transparency in this decision. We hope too that ACW will support us in the next phase, whatever that may be.

​

To every single community member, artist, colleague, creative associate, partner, friend & family connected to us that have helped shape, support & believe in a collective vision, we thank you for believing in us, we thank you for holding us. And to those who have taken the time to contact us directly, with kind and honest words of support and solidarity, we thank you deeply.

Our doors to The Place in Newport remain open & our creative activities, youth theatre, community company & ongoing projects will continue whilst we have the funds to deliver.
