Production and Sites Manager

The Production and site Manager is responsible for the overall planning, management, coordination, and delivery of all production and technical elements across the Y Bont International Festival.

Working closely with the Company Manager, Creative Producer, Assistant stage manager, Emerging site crew and the technical production events team you will oversee the logistical, technical, and operational infrastructure of the festival.

This role ensures that all sites, teams, and production systems are effectively resourced, safely delivered, and aligned with the artistic vision of the project.

The Production and site Manager will lead on-site operations across a multi-location outdoor environment, supporting both rehearsals and live public events, and ensuring seamless integration between technical, artistic, and community-led activity.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the overall production planning and delivery for Y Bont International Festival

• Manage all technical and operational aspects of a multi-site outdoor festival environment

• Oversee production scheduling, logistics, and resource planning across all sites

• Work closely with the Company Manager to coordinate company operations and delivery systems

• Line manage and support Assistant stage manager, and support the Emerging Stage Managers and wider production support teams

• Coordinate technical requirements including staging, lighting, sound, power, and site infrastructure

• Oversee get-ins, get-outs, and site builds, ensuring safe and efficient delivery

• Work closely with the Creative Director and artistic team to realise the creative vision within production parameters

• Collaborate with the Wellbeing & Access Coordinator to ensure safe, inclusive, and accessible environments

• Liaise with local authority partners, site managers, and external contractors as required

• Ensure all production activity complies with health & safety, risk assessment, and safeguarding requirements - producing an in-depth Event management plan

• Maintain clear communication systems across all production departments and sites

• Troubleshoot live production challenges in fast-moving outdoor environments

• Oversee production documentation, schedules, and operational reporting

• Hold SAG and local meetings with city centre partners to ensure all events proposals and safety is signed off. 

Essential Criteria

• Significant experience as a Production Manager or Senior Production Coordinator in live performance, theatre, outdoor arts, or festival contexts

• Proven experience managing large-scale or multi-site productions

• Strong technical understanding of outdoor event infrastructure (staging, lighting, sound, power, site logistics)

• Experience managing teams, freelancers, and production crews

• Strong understanding of health & safety, risk assessment, and operational compliance in live environments

• Excellent organisational, planning, and communication skills

• Ability to work calmly and decisively under pressure in fast-changing environments

• Experience collaborating with artistic teams to deliver complex creative work

• Understanding of inclusive, participatory, or community-facing production environments

Desirable Criteria

• Experience working in outdoor arts, site-specific performance, or large-scale public realm events

• Experience working with local authorities and multi-agency partners

• Understanding of participatory or community-led production contexts

• Experience working within international or cross-cultural projects

• Knowledge of Newport or similar urban/regeneration contexts

• Experience supporting environmentally responsible production practices
