FIRST CAMPUS

A partnership between higher education institutions,

PERFORMANCE PRACTIONERS

---------------------------

For the past four years we have been the primary performance practitioners working for First Campus, based out of UW Newport.

A large part of this work is the provision of live performance and workshops for young people. Sometimes connected to the curriculum, our overall intention is to raise aspirations in community first areas, and link young people in Wales to the opportunities of higher education.

PREVIOUS WORK

ON THE WINGS OF LOVE

---------------------------

In collaboration with The Scribblers Tour 2012

---------------------------

On The Wings Of Love is set in the 1940's and tells the story of Archer McMillan, a low-paid journalist who dreams of being able to write fiction. As he sits at his writing desk, tasked to write about Timmy O'Peterson the seventh boy to fall down a well this year, he begins to day-dream about romance. Suddenly his day-dreams manifest themselves and Archer is torn between reality and fiction.

Through a highly physical, cartoon style inspired by French clowning traditions, this piece explores creative writing, our chosen career paths and children's boundless imaginations.

FLUFF INC.

---------------------------

In collaboration with The Scribblers Tour 2013

---------------------------

FLUFF INC is a semi-improvised performance piece that takes pre-written stories from children and makes them come alive on stage.

Three drone-like-factory workers who use complicated machinery to pack fluff into boxes (why they don't know) one day find a book of stories. Suddenly the monotony of their everyday lives is torn, as the boundless imagination of children wreaks havoc. They begin to re-enact the stories and experience true imagination and joy for the first time. Upon discovering their own imagination they suddenly realise their is a far more fun, easy and more effective way to pack fluff.

MR & MRS PERYL'S

DANGEROUS SHOW

---------------------------

A Transitions Project for Yr 6

---------------------------

Mr & Mrs Peryl are the most Dangerous Married Couple in Britain, and for one day only THEY ARE AT YOUR SCHOOL!

Prepare yourselves to witness the impossible, as the hero, John Peryl: Dangerman Extraordinaire performs three death defying tricks... Or at least that's the plan.

After failing to work out the maths behind catching a speeding bullet (potato) in his mouth, John breaks down and admits he never went to Secondary School... He was just too scared.

Now he needs Yr 6's help to pluck up the courage and get his butt back to school.
